Some Visual Artists of Mtubatuba have formed a loose association of Visual Artists who would like to put a company in place which would run the Mtubatuba cultural centre as a business, whose sole purpose will be to promote all the arts within the Mtubatuba Municipal area. Send mail to   for more details. This association will have the interests of the local artists at heart, and will establish a gallery / shop, which will act as an outlet for the local artists. This gallery will also act as a supply shop where artists may purchase materials, which they require to draw, sculpt, weave or generally manufacture their products.

The so called cultural centre in Mtubatuba would make a great gallery / shop for our local artistic talent, and there are a few stalls in the south western corner of the parking area which could be utilized by resident artists to show case their talent as individuals or groups.

This area has facilities for large busses to park and turn, and could thus easily be included in any coach tour, which bypasses our town along the N2 or passes through the town of Mtubatuba to St. Lucia. The location of this centre is one of the best tourism orientated sites within the town of Mtubatuba, and the artists would not like to let this opportunity to gain control of this prestigious development slip away from them.

It seems that others have now also realised that this development may be able to be utilised to suit their needs and have also put proposals to the municipality. The town council has not as yet informed us if they are going to support the artists or not, so we are waiting for their decision. In the mean time we will be setting up things to sell art online.
